Los imaginarios violentos

Resumen:
El artículo pretende reflexionar sobre la representación de la
violencia en los media y su instrumentalización como imaginario colectivo.
El artículo se divide en cuatro apartados. En primer lugar se propone
un recorrido a través de las conceptualizaciones de la violencia social.
En segundo lugar, se conecta violencia social y representada a través
de las “narrativas de la violencia”. Los hechos del 11 de septiembre
permiten su ejemplificación e introducen el análisis sobre los
mecanismos de visibilidad del discurso televisivo. Para acabar, se reflexiona
sobre el papel de los espectadores en la construcción de las fronteras
que organizan el imaginario colectivo sobre la violencia.
Abstract:
This article examines the representation of violence in the media and its instrumentalisation
as collective imagination. The article is divided into four parts. First, it
charts the conceptualisations of social violence. Then social violence and represented
violence are connected by means of the “narratives of violence”.
The events of 11 September are used to exemplify this and to introduce an analysis
of the mechanisms of visibility in television discourse. To conclude, the author
studies the role of the spectator in the construction of the boundaries which
organize the collective imagination with regard to violence.
