El deporte del fútbol ha ido alcanzando un creciente nivel de
popularidad, por lo que el lenguaje empleado en la narración de
los acontecimientos relacionados con él trascienden el medio deportivo
y se extienden a casi todos los ámbitos sociales. En este
trabajo se analizan y ejemplifican algunas características del lenguaje
deportivo del fútbol, como su etimología y procedencia, la
existencia de extranjerismos y calcos lingüísticos, las condiciones
que deberían tenerse en cuenta para la aceptación de términos
foráneos, las metáforas y expresiones idiomáticas, polisemias, siglas
y eponimias, así como la existencia de diversas denominaciones
para referirse a un mismo concepto. Dada la globalización
de este deporte y su gran creatividad lingüística, se llama la atención
en la necesidad de controlar y proteger el lenguaje ante contaminaciones
como la entrada abusiva de términos extranjeros,
metáforas exageradas, lenguaje belicoso y otras expresiones que
en ocasiones constituyen un atentado a la lengua.

ABSTRACT

Football has reached an ongoing popularity level, so the language
used to narrate the events related to it goes beyond the
sportive event and extends to almost every social environments.
In this paper we analyze and illustrate with examples some
characteristics of the sportive language of football like its etymology
and origin, the existence of foreign words and loan
translations, the conditions that should be kept in mind for the
acceptance of this foreign terms, the metaphors and idiomatic
expressions, polysemies, acronyms and eponymous, as well as
the existence of several denominations to refer to a same
concept. Given the globalization of this sport and the big linguistic
creativity concerning to it, we demand attention on the
need of protecting the language against pollution like the abusive
entrance of foreing terms, exaggerated metaphors, military
language and other terms that constitute an aggression to the
language.
